How To Draw A Gothic Cat
Friends! Learn how to draw this cute little gothic cat I created. Its super quirky and is inspired by my fave, Tim Burton. It may look like a complex cartoon but it is seriously easy to draw. Check out the step by step tutorial below.
Ps: Don’t forget all artwork on this site is original art created by me. I’d love you to recreate it and share your stuff on social, just remember to tag me @nicolamilanart (and no commercial resale allowed. Thanks!)
So easy! Draw a triangle (ish) for the head. Make it tilt a bit and it doesn’t need to be perfect. The less perfect = the more character you cat will have!
Add in your ears. They kind of look like rounded triangles. You can also do straight triangles if you want and even add some fuzzy bits the end for flair!
Next draw in the body. It’s a simplified outline of what a cat’s limbs look like when they’re all pressed together sitting. Its not always even. You can go boney too if you want to add some more darkness to your cat’s Gothic level.
Add a jaggedy tail. Simple 🙂
Ok…. now we’re adding some details peeps. So let’s go for a classic gothic one-eyed cat look. (Makes it easier to draw too! hehe). Just add a cross for one eye and draw whatever eye you want on the other side.
You don’t have to worry about them matching! Hurrah!
Not sure about you, but I like my characters to have eyebrows. It gives them more personality. You can experiment with making the eyebrows different shapes or go in different directions, depending on whether you want the cat to be evil, angry, sad, emo, zombie-death stare-like or whatevs…
Ok very important step here. Erase the corners of the triangle. We’re going to add in some cute jaggedy fluff around the cheeks.
I think it makes the head look a bit better than just being a big fat wonky triangle. Lol.
Then you’re done!
Woop! Woop! So simple eh? Then draw your cat whatever colour in the universe you feel like drawing it…. there is such a thing as Pastel Goth you know… 😉
Check out my lil’ digital version below… as well as the original trio I drew in pastel pencil.
Hope you enjoyed! Mwah!
You should be so proud right now. Meow.
